We searched wide and far for a promising place to plant grapes, landing in the Carmel Coast region. We loved the terroir and climate of the Carmel Coast region for its proximity to the deep, cold waters of Monterey Bay.

Domaine Messier makes wine in California’s Carmel to foster a deeper connection with nature, history, place, and time. As stewards of our land, we commit to its care with sustainable and organic farming practices and seek to make make wine which is the ultimate expression of its terroir and season.
Named for the catalogue of 110 astronomical objects repertoried by French astronomer Charles Messier, the vineyard is cultivated on a spectacular landscape of Monterey peninsular valleys nurtured daily by the marine layer of the Pacific Ocean.
Domaine Messier wines are close to the earth,
subject to unusual events, old in spirit, and will
continue to yield their secrets.
The 2022 wines are as radiant and mysterious
as the globular cluster they’re named after, the
Messier 22 object.
